The Corporation of the Township of Carling is a rural municipality located just north of Parry Sound on the shores of Georgian Bay.  The Township is home to Killbear Provincial Park and serves both year round and seasonal residents.  The Township is located about 5km in from Hwy 400 and Hwy 559 and is an hour and twenty minute drive to Barrie.

The Corporation of The Township of Carling is looking to replace the arena boards in the covered outdoor ice rink at 2 West Carling Bay Road, Nobel ON P0G 1G0 with new boards and Glass.  The Township is currently undertaking an RFP for the construction of a new concrete slab and it is expected the new boards would be placed on the new slab.

This Request for Proposal invites Suppliers to submit a 'PROPOSAL' that clearly identifies the contractor's ability, through its professional services and construction experience, to manufacture, supply and install new arena boards and glass (Dasherboards) for the outdoor ice rink surface in accordance with the current codes and practices.

Enclosed with this Request for Proposal document is a detailed specification that the Municipality expects will be provided.  Alternatives method of construction and materials may be presented within the proposal with cost implications identified. 

The Scope of Work:

The Municipality is seeking to engage the services of a qualified, experienced contractor to provide clear anodized aluminum arena boards (Dasherboards) that are lightweight, strong, flexible and affordable to replace our existing outdoor ice rink boards located at 2 West Carling Bay Road in Nobel, Ontario. 

The dimensions of the new boards are expected to be approximately 75’ x 162’ with 28 feet radius corners.  The new rink boards will be installed under an existing covered structure that is open in nature with sufficient interior headroom space for equipment with a 14’ x 16’ roll up door at the rear end of the structure.  The sides of the building are open and the roof over-hang is such that it protects the ice surface from both sun and precipitation.  The clearance is approximately twenty-three (23) feet at centre and twelve (12) feet at the boards.

The Contractor to provide all materials, equipment, and labour required to complete the project unless clearly otherwise specified herein.
